Study in gray - studio setup using natural light and digital camea

About seeing

It’s just a white sheet and some metal plates on a gray background, but that’s not what it’s about. It’s about seeing things in a different light, so to speak—the way it reflects off shiny metal or gets lost in deep folds of cloth. It’s about possibilities, making choices, learning from accidents, recognizing success—working and playing at the same time.

I made this photograph as a camera test to examine the subtle color in this neutral subject, but after looking at the image on screen, I was captivated by the range of “color”, and richness of texture.

Finally, this image is about a kind of simplicity for which I strive—in art and in life.
